Lagos honours 506 LG workers for long service

The Lagos State Government has honored 506 officers of the Unified Local Government Service for their dedication and service over many years. The recognition took place at the 2026 Long Service Merit Award ceremony held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium in Ikeja. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, praised the awardees for their commitment, professionalism, and perseverance throughout their careers.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized that these officers' service is a vital part of Lagos' institutional history and promised continued support from his administration and future governments. The governor noted that the officers had served through various changes, including leadership shifts, technological advancements, and evolving community needs.

He assured the public that the government would remain by their side, ensuring effective service delivery and career advancement. Sanwo-Olu also urged younger employees to learn from the awardees and stressed the importance of mentorship, training, and knowledge sharing. The Head of Service, Bode Agoro, praised the government for maintaining the Long Service Merit Award, highlighting the administration's commitment to rewarding dedicated public servants.

He urged younger officers to embrace continuous learning and prioritize their health through the Ilera Eko health insurance policy.
