Jalgaon: RTO Agent Held By ACB While Accepting ₹7,000 Bribe For Vehicle Fitness Certificate

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended an RTO agent, Yogesh Rambhau Patil, in Jalgaon on Monday while allegedly taking a ₹7,000 bribe to expedite the vehicle fitness certification for a car belonging to a disabled lawyer. Patil is a private agent linked to the Jalgaon RTO. The complainant had bought a Maruti Alto K10 on July 1, 2026.

His temporary registration was processed at the Jalgaon RTO on August 3 via Patil. On August 12, the lawyer visited the RTO to finalize the car's permanent registration and fitness certification. At that time, Patil reportedly asked for ₹10,000, stating it was necessary to pay RTO staff for completing the process. After negotiations, the complainant agreed to pay the reduced amount of ₹8,500.

The complainant lodged a complaint with the ACB on August 16. After verification, the agency set up a trap in Jalgaon's Ichhadevi Chowk on Monday, where they caught Patil accepting the bribe. Patil has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is ongoing. The probe was led by ACB officials, including Police Inspectors Smita Navghare and Hemant Nagare, along with Police Sub-Inspectors Suresh Patil and Yogesh Thakur.
