‘It is a dream come true’ – Maseko on Copenhagen transfer

Danish football club FC Copenhagen have secured the signing of South African winger Thapelo Maseko from Betway Premiership side Mamelodi Sundowns. The 22-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Danish giants, ending months of speculation surrounding his future following his impressive performance at the FIFA World Cup earlier this year. Maseko was instrumental in South Africa's memorable run in the tournament, scoring the decisive goal against South Korea to secure their place in the last 32.

Having previously played for SuperSport United, Maseko joins a roster of former Bafana stars who have donned the Copenhagen jersey, including Sibusiso Zuma, Elrio van Heerden, and Luther Singh. FC Copenhagen Director of Football, Kristjaan Speakman, lauded Maseko's addition to the team, stating, "We’re building a balanced squad with different profiles and Thapelo is an exciting addition.

He’s comfortable to play on both sides of the pitch and likes to attack space with and without the ball. His game is progressing and recent exposure at international level has shown his ability to play on the biggest stage."

Maseko himself expressed his immense pride in joining the Copenhagen club, calling it a "dream come true." The young player, who had rediscovered his form during a loan spell at Cypriot side AEL Limassol last season, was eager to join the prestigious Danish club. "F.C. Copenhagen are a very special club," he commented. "They are a club that is highly recognised internationally, and Zuma has told me so many great things about the club, the fans, and the city. I am looking forward to experiencing it all myself."
