Interior minister seeks two-year transformation plans from depts

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has mandated heads of all subordinate entities within the Ministry of Interior to submit comprehensive two-year transformation strategies. During a gathering of department heads on Monday, Naqvi emphasized the objective to wholly modernize every organization under his ministry, making them exemplary and customer-oriented.

"The Ministry of Interior's tasks differ from others, being unique and challenging," Naqvi pointed out. All departments will receive necessary resources and full backing, including recently formed authorities like the Land Port Authority. Naqvi called for enhanced collaboration, communication, and coordination among institutions.

He also stressed the need for robust data and cyber security measures. Naqvi encouraged institutions to operate autonomously, make their own decisions, and propose necessary amendments to laws. He noted a decrease in drug smuggling cases during Haj operations last year and this year, attributing this progress to improved institutional performance.

Interior Minister for State, Tallal Chaudhry, highlighted the shift in mindset within federal institutions, stating that all departments will now function in a targeted, result-driven, and performance-oriented manner. Heads of the various organizations under the Interior Ministry's administrative control reported positive changes under Naqvi's leadership.

The meeting included the Minister of State for Interior, Interior Secretary, and representatives from various departments such as NADRA, FIA, ANF, NACTA, Federal Constabulary, NCCIA, Land Port Authority, Passports and Immigration, Islamabad Police, Social Media Regulatory Authority, and Federal Prosecutor General.
