Health card request sparks violent rampage at Spanish health centre

During a night shift at a Spanish out-of-hours health centre in Mallorca, a man turned violent when staff requested his health card. The incident at the Sineu health centre led to the injured man, of Moroccan nationality, becoming agitated upon being asked for his documentation. A doctor requested his health card, which triggered the man's aggressive response.

He smashed the entrance door with the nursing bed, knocked over a medical trolley, and kicked the entrance door, shattering the glass. Staff managed to escort the two men outside and lock the door. The Guardia Civil was called, and the man was found waiting for an ambulance outside. A nurse, affected by the incident, reportedly suffers from ongoing anxiety and may require legal assistance.

Video footage from the incident has been handed over to the Guardia Civil as evidence. The Sineu centre's out-of-hours services have been left vulnerable due to the reported rise in aggression towards medical staff in Spain, a problem that can particularly impact workers on their own during overnight shifts.
