Govt committed to rural development in Savannah Region – Minister

The Savannah Regional Minister, Mr Sualisu Be-Awuribe, has emphasized the government's dedication to ensuring rural areas within the region benefit equitably from development initiatives. During the Savannah Region's inaugural "Accounting to the People" event, organized by the East Gonja Municipal Assembly, Mr Be-Awuribe highlighted the Regional Coordinating Council's collaborative efforts with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to deliver necessary development to rural communities.

Stressing transparency and accountability as top priorities, Mr Be-Awuribe affirmed that these principles were crucial for promoting good governance and sustainable growth at the local level. He reiterated that accelerating development across Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) would be a primary focus for the government.

The East Gonja Municipal Assembly has, through its responsibilities, constructed schools, clinics, roads, and boreholes, as well as undertaken other social interventions in the municipality. East Gonja Municipal Assembly Member Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahim praised the assembly's commitment to the accountability initiative, urging it to persist in delivering on its mandate and emphasizing that transparency was crucial for fostering public trust and prudent resource management.

The assembly's Chief Executive, Mr Kassim Rabiu Yazid, pledged to ensure that public resources entrusted to the assembly were utilized efficiently to enhance residents' lives, and called on the community to collaborate closely with the assembly in its continued efforts to enhance living conditions.
