Government Prioritises Strengthening Monitoring And Distribution Systems To Ensure Timely Fertiliser Supply To Farmers

Lucknow: The Yogi government is making significant strides in fortifying monitoring and distribution systems to guarantee a steady supply of fertilisers to farmers during the upcoming Kharif 2026 season. In a recent review meeting held at the Cooperative Department, officials were instructed to ensure prompt delivery of fertilisers and keep a close eye on societies with minimal or no fertiliser stock.

As per the review, by August 12, the state possessed 5.02 lakh metric tonnes of urea and 4.04 lakh LMT of phosphatic fertilisers. To date, 10.83 lakh LMT of fertilisers have been distributed in Kharif 2026, a notable increase when compared to the previous season. Currently, the stock includes 2.73 lakh LMT of urea and 1.70 lakh LMT of phosphatic fertilisers ready for distribution.

The meeting emphasized the need for cooperative societies and distribution centres to keep sufficient stocks. Societies with low or zero inventory will be flagged for immediate attention and supplied without delay. An Additional District Magistrate (ADM) or Chief Development Officer (CDO) will be appointed as the nodal officer in each district.

In regions affected by floods, alternative measures will be taken to link farmers with neighbouring cooperative societies for smooth fertiliser access. The Chief Secretary directed CDOs to review fertiliser availability and distribution on a daily basis, while District Magistrates will perform weekly reviews. The Chief Secretary stressed that issues related to overpricing or clandestine labelling of fertilisers should not occur under any circumstances.

Special arrangements have been made to connect flood-affected farmers with nearby societies for uninterrupted fertiliser access. Additional trucks have been mobilised across districts to facilitate seamless transportation of fertilisers. The Yogi government's farmer-focused approach underscores the importance of thorough district-level monitoring of fertiliser availability and timely distribution to farmers.

To address any concerns promptly and provide redressal, the Cooperative Department has kept its control rooms operational. Farmers can reach out to the department via phone at 0522-2289887 between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, or through the toll-free helpline 1800-180-5551 for assistance related to fertiliser availability and distribution.

This initiative aims to ensure that farmers receive timely support and do not face any hindrances in accessing fertilisers during the Kharif season.
