Gan Jia Yue named Geely CEO, founder Li Shu Fu resigns

Geely Automobile has announced significant changes to its board structure, with founder Li Shu Fu stepping down as chairman and executive director, and Gan Jia Yue appointed as CEO. The changes, effective immediately, are part of the company's long-term succession planning. Gui Sheng Yue relinquishes the CEO role, becoming vice chairman and retaining his executive director position.

Li Dong Hui resigns from his vice chairman role but remains an executive director. Li Dong Hui's departure from vice chairman does not raise any shareholder concerns. Li Shu Fu founded Geely in 1986 in Taizhou, Zhejiang, China, starting as a manufacturer of refrigerator parts and later expanding into motorcycles and automobiles.

An Cong Hui, previously an executive director, assumes the role of chairman, reflecting an orderly succession process as outlined in the company's June 2026 announcement. The board aims to enhance professional management authorization and optimize Geely's corporate governance structure. Li Shu Fu retains an honorary chairman for life title, with no formal governance authority, and confirms no disagreements with the board.

He maintains a controlling stake in the company. An's ties to the controlling shareholder, along with the board's independent non-executive members, will monitor for any potential conflicts of interest.
