Galgotias University students are building apps that solve real problems, now featured by Apple

At Galgotias University’s iOS Student Developer Program, students are transforming their own ideas into mobile applications that address real-world issues, such as menstrual health tracking, early autism screening, and interview preparation. These projects, which began as personal passions rather than academic assignments, have garnered recognition from Apple and been featured on apple.com.

The standout apps include Sakhi, a menstrual health companion developed by Karan Kumar and Arpita Gupta; AutiCare, an early autism screening tool created by Sudhanshu Kumar and Sourabh Singh; ToyVista, an augmented reality app that allows shoppers to visualize toys before purchasing, built by Madhav Sharma and Ansh Kalra; and PrepLoop, an interview simulation platform using AI feedback developed by Shams Tabrej Alam and his team.

These applications exemplify the program’s impact, as students from diverse backgrounds, including first-generation college learners and children from farming families, have leveraged the university’s resources to create functional software. The program emphasizes practical learning, integrating Swift and Xcode directly into coursework, enabling students to transition from coding to deploying real-world apps—a milestone for many, as it is their initial exposure to developing software for actual users.

Apple’s Swift Student Challenge has seen a significant rise in participation from Galgotias University, with wins increasing from 10 in 2025 to 18 in 2026, underscoring the program’s success in fostering innovation and technical proficiency.
