Fontaines D.C. Share Pounding Comeback Single & Announce New Album: Here’s When It Arrives

Dublin-based rock band Fontaines D.C. has unveiled details of its upcoming album Dopamine Chamber, set to release on October 16 through XL Recordings. The announcement coincides with the debut of their new single "Marianne," which made its live performance debut at a headline concert in Cadiz, Spain on August 8.

Produced by James Ford, who previously worked with the band on their albums Skinty Fia and Romance, Dopamine Chamber marks the band's fifth studio release. Following their previous works Dogrel (2019), A Hero's Death (2020), Skinty Fia (2022) and Romance (2024), Dopamine Chamber showcases a darker, more electronic-infused sound. Guitarist Conor Curley revealed that the band's sonic evolution aims to "find stuff that pointed into the future."

Inspiration for the lead single "Marianne" drew from the Netflix thriller series Ripley (2024), an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. This marks the band's fifth studio album overall. Their previous releases include Dogrel (2019), A Hero's Death (2020), Skinty Fia (2022) and Romance (2024). Romance gained notable recognition, earning the band a Mercury Prize nomination and a 2025 BRIT award for international group.

The album also peaked at No. 2 on the U.K.'s Official Albums Chart and reached No. 97 on the Billboard 200.

Fontaines D.C., formed in 2014, has established themselves as one of the most acclaimed rock bands of the past decade. Following their formation at music college in Dublin, the five-piece members have achieved critical acclaim and grown their fan base to fill arena-sized venues. This year, the band solidified their status by headlining the Reading & Leeds Festival on August 30, sharing the stage with artists such as Charli xcx, RAYE, Dave, Florence + The Machine, and Chase & Status.
