FM: Egypt’s foreign policy prioritizes national interests, security

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized on Monday that Egypt's foreign policy is anchored in a balanced approach that prioritizes national security and the nation's interests, despite ongoing regional and international crises and shifts. During a meeting with diplomatic mission heads abroad, Abdelatty highlighted the critical role of Egyptian embassies and consulates in executing the country's foreign policy and safeguarding its interests overseas.

He acknowledged the ministry's ongoing efforts to restructure its operations, optimize performance mechanisms, and invest in the training of diplomatic personnel to better navigate the evolving diplomatic landscape and address emerging challenges.

The Foreign Minister also stressed the increasing economic significance of Egyptian missions abroad, emphasizing the necessity to intensify efforts to lure foreign investments, expand export markets, boost trade, and promote Egypt's promising investment prospects. Abdelatty reviewed the government's efforts to improve the business climate and bolster the private sector's involvement in fueling economic expansion, underscoring the importance of utilizing the missions' vast network of connections to bolster Egypt's economic and development objectives.

Regarding support for Egyptians living abroad, Abdelatty reiterated the ministry's top priority in enhancing consular services, detailing initiatives to modernize the consular system and introduce digital solutions to expedite procedures and elevate service quality. He directed the missions to keep open lines of communication with Egyptian communities overseas, addressing their concerns, and informing them about the initiatives and services offered by the state and the Foreign Ministry to deepen their connection to their homeland.

The meeting saw extensive deliberations between Abdelatty and mission heads on proposals to refine working methods, improve coordination between missions and ministry divisions, and heighten performance efficiency in alignment with the demands of the present stage. These discussions also covered strategies to amplify the impact of Egypt's diplomatic endeavors and further the nation's national interests.
