Fifa official sacked after Infantino plan criticism

Fifa’s chief operating officer, Kevin Lamour, has been dismissed from his position just days after publicly criticizing the organization's president, Gianni Infantino. The decision came less than three weeks following Lamour's strong opposition to Infantino's aborted plan to sell stakes in Fifa competitions to private investors.

In a statement, Fifa confirmed Lamour's departure, praising him for his two years of service but expressing hope for his future endeavors. The news was relayed to Fifa's staff via an email from Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom. Lamour had previously referred to the controversial project, known as Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE), as "the project of one person" and claimed that the time had come for football leaders to ask the right questions and make the right decisions.

He further stated that the Fifa administration had been deceived about the now abandoned project. Lamour, who joined Fifa in November 2024, acknowledged his duty of loyalty to the organization but also to his colleagues and values.
