Devdutt Padikkal on No. 3 race: ‘You cannot really expect a run of games’
Devdutt Padikkal, playing at No. 3 in Sri Lanka's first Test against India in Galle, scored 221 runs across the match. The 25-year-old received praise for his two contrasting innings, a fluent 167 and a patient 44. However, Padikkal revealed that there have been no discussions about his role in the team beyond this series. He emphasized the importance of performing whenever given the chance, as there are no guarantees in modern-day cricket.
Padikkal acknowledged the need to adapt his batting approach between white-ball and red-ball cricket, but maintained that his focus is on reacting to the situation at hand rather than overthinking his role.
