Düsseldorf: The German benchmark index, the Dax, is exhibiting cautious behavior, closing on Tuesday morning around 26,220 points, roughly 0.5 percent lower. Previously, the Dax had ended Monday's trading 0.4 percent lower at 26,339 points. However, overall, the German benchmark index is in a strong phase, trading close to its recent record high of 26,573 points.

This marks the 15th record this year, despite geopolitical crises and persistently weak German economy. Dax companies are benefiting primarily from the robust global economy, which is boosting their overseas revenues. Consequently, the ongoing stock rally is considered robust, yet private investors should exercise caution in their enthusiasm: The new analysis of the Handelsblatt-Dax sentiment survey reveals early warning signs.

There could be a shortage of follow-on buyers to propel prices higher, and growing self-satisfaction among private investors could prove dangerous. Thomas Altmann of QC Partners observes only restrained profit-taking despite high valuations and rising interest rates: "Investors are in a wait-and-see mode. While no one is buying, hardly anyone is selling either," Altmann remarks.
