Council chair marks first year with N500m empowerment programme

Dr. Oluseyi Jakande, chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, celebrated his first year in office with a N500m empowerment programme. The initiative was unveiled at a ceremony in Lagos, featuring minibuses, catering equipment, apprenticeship tools, and a N250m loan facility. The programme aims to improve residents' livelihoods and demonstrate the administration's commitment to their well-being.

Over 600 beneficiaries completed vocational and skills acquisition courses in shoemaking, fashion designing, hairdressing, event planning, electrical and solar installation, and information and communication technology skills. Jakande urged the beneficiaries to take ownership of the empowerment items and loans, emphasizing that these initiatives were investments in their future.

The council chairman also highlighted infrastructure developments, such as the completion of 18 roads and the ongoing construction of four others. Praise for Jakande's performance came from Tajudeen Olusi, chairman of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council, who expressed pride in the progress made and encouraged Jakande to continue his efforts.
