Coimbatore, Tiruppur exporters seek measures to make Vizhinjam International Seaport viable for MSME exporters

Coimbatore and Tiruppur exporters are urging for measures to make the Vizhinjam International Seaport economically viable for their businesses. While the port presents a promising logistical solution for direct shipments to Western countries, certain factors need addressing for MSME exporters to benefit from it. The Tiruppur Exporters’ Association has recommended the development of a Tiruppur-Vizhinjam EXIM cargo corridor, with a focus on direct connectivity to the EU, UK, US, and West Asian nations.

To achieve this, costs related to landed logistics should be competitive, and there should be a transparent and single-window operation involving relevant stakeholders. The industry also suggests organizing a trade meet in Coimbatore to gather insights from exporters and facilitate smoother cargo movement from Tamil Nadu's MSME units to Western destinations via the Vizhinjam port.
