Chinese tourist dies after being found unresponsive in pool of Phuket hotel

Chinese tourist, Ye, lost his life after being discovered unresponsive in a hotel pool in Phuket on August 17. Ye, 44 years old, along with his family, had booked accommodation at the hotel from August 16 to 22. His daughter noticed Ye lying motionless in the hotel's two-meter-deep swimming pool. Fellow swimmers and a medical team immediately responded to Ye's situation, pulling him from the pool and performing CPR while an ambulance was summoned.

Ye was subsequently transported to Patong Hospital for additional care. Tragically, Ye succumbed to his injuries around 11:30am on the same day, and the hospital promptly informed the Patong Police Station of his demise. In accordance with legal procedures, the police proceeded to visit both the hospital and the hotel to conduct an investigation.

Following the investigation, Ye's body was transferred to the forensic department at Vajira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy. The police also conducted a thorough inspection of the hotel, taking photographs of the scene and gathering pertinent information. Coordination with the Chinese Embassy in Thailand ensured that the necessary formalities pertaining to the deceased were adhered to.

The cause of death remains under examination via forensic analysis. A comparable incident occurred in Phuket in July, where an Australian tourist drowned in a luxury villa pool, having just returned from a jet ski excursion. In April, another Chinese national was found deceased in a swimming pool at a condominium in Pattaya. The exact time of Ye's entry into the hotel pool remains uncertain, as the pool's closing time is at 10pm; however, his body was found at approximately midnight.
