Bus Cap, BYD Malaysia to jointly build EV commercial vehicle platform

Bus Cap Bhd and BYD Malaysia Sdn Bhd have collaborated to create a new energy commercial vehicle platform in Malaysia. This partnership aims to develop electric bus assembly, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales services in Perak. The agreement includes product localization, sales, marketing, distribution, and comprehensive after-sales services.

The two companies may also explore expanding into electric trucks, forklifts, vans, minibuses, and rail-transit-related solutions, depending on market demand and technical feasibility. Bus Cap's executive director, Bernard Ng Chong Yan, stated that this MoU signifies a crucial step in the company's growth after its listing. BYD's vice-president and commercial vehicle division general manager, Luo Zhongliang, emphasized that the collaboration could serve as a solid foundation for electric bus assembly, manufacturing, and deployment in Malaysia. The partnership may also help explore future opportunities in the broader Southeast Asian market.
