Brighton sign Promise David on loan

Brighton & Hove Albion have finalized the signing of Canada striker Promise David on a season-long loan deal from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. The agreement includes a £22m obligatory buy option, contingent on certain criteria being met. The 25-year-old joins the Premier League club following a successful stint in Belgium, where he netted 41 goals and provided nine assists in 82 appearances for Union Saint-Gilloise.

David's career trajectory has been rapid, starting from youth football in Canada, Croatia, and the United States, before moving to Malta in 2022 and representing Valletta and Sirens. He then joined Estonian side Nomme Kalju, where he scored 30 goals in 44 appearances, capturing the attention of Union Saint-Gilloise, who signed him in 2024.

His impressive performances earned him 24 goals as the Belgian club secured their first league title in 90 years. Internationally, David has been a key player for Canada, earning 14 caps and scoring four goals, including one in the World Cup this summer where he scored in the 2-1 defeat by Switzerland.
