Breakouts & wildcards - 13 surprise stars for new season

Here are 13 surprise stars to watch out for in the new Premier League season, as selected by BBC Sport's TV and radio commentators:

1. Steve Bower mentions Eli Junior Kroupi, an 18-year-old Dutch midfielder who played for Ajax last season and has defensive and attacking abilities. He was signed by Newcastle for a fee up to £23m.

2. John Murray highlights Yirenkyi, a 18-year-old midfielder from Ghana who played in all four of Ghana's matches at the World Cup. He is energetic and has scored against England and Panama.

3. Conor McNamara describes Yirenkyi as talented and versatile, with experience in the Danish Superliga. He was named Young Player of the Year at Nordsjaelland last season.

4. Frank Lampard is a potential coach for Yirenkyi, who has the potential to become a Premier League standard midfielder.

5. Pedro Porro, a defender for Spain, has joined Crystal Palace on a free transfer. He could replace Daniel Munoz, who is uncertain about his future at Selhurst Park.

6. Yao Madjo, a 17-year-old striker from Luxembourg, has scored multiple goals for Aston Villa in pre-season and has competed against top teams like PSG. He has the potential to become a success at the club.

7. John Murray initially considered Johan Manzambi, but chose Madjo to avoid including two players from the same club. Manzambi had an excellent World Cup performance and was signed by Villa for just over £10m.

8. Madjo has a powerful physique, making him a strong candidate for Villa's first team. With established strikers like Ollie Watkins and Tammy Abraham, Madjo can be introduced to the team without relying on him. Unai Emery, Villa's manager, can nurture Madjo's development effectively.
