Bomba cadang garis panduan keselamatan cas EV di rumah
Ketua Pengarahnya Nor Hisham Mohammad berkata langkah itu penting susulan peningkatan penggunaan kenderaan elektrik ketika ini.
Malaysian Emergency Services Department (JBPM) Chief Nor Hisham Mohammad has proposed the creation of a safety guideline for the inspection of electric vehicle (EV) chargers at homes, following the increasing popularity of such vehicles. Speaking at the recent Hub Skills Training program, he revealed that over the past three years, his department has recorded approximately 25 incidents of EV-related fires from four categories.
The possible causes of these fires may include the vehicle itself, the charger, the inspection station, or the wiring connecting the system, according to preliminary investigations. However, the number of EV-related fires has not shown a significant increase year-over-year. Noting a recent incident involving a house fire in Cheras caused by an EV, Nor Hisham urged EV owners to install chargers that comply with safety standards and hire registered and reputable contractors for the installation process.
He emphasized that the EV charging process typically takes seven to eight hours and that the risk of fire due to electrical issues remains.
