Biker Riddhi Thakkar death: Avenger she was riding had brake issues, police to probe organisers

Police in Chhattisgarh are investigating the death of 24-year-old Riddhi Thakkar, who was involved in a hit-and-run accident while riding an Avenger during a women bikers rally to Bastar on August 12. The police have also started an inquiry into the organisers' actions to determine if any lapses occurred. The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, particularly from bikers and friends of Riddhi, who considered her a highly skilled rider.

The Women Riders Club, led by Amita Bais and Chhaya Singh, organized the rally, which was its inaugural event. According to Amita, Riddhi insisted on riding the Avenger with a loose brake lever despite warnings from the club's leaders, who had told her twice that it was unsafe to do so. The accident occurred on a C-shaped blind spot curve when a truck hit Riddhi and fled the scene. The truck driver has yet to be arrested.
