Bieniemy jokes wife Mia gave him blessing to rejoin Chiefs after she was shot at their Virginia home

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy joked about his wife Mia giving him permission to return to the team following her shooting at their Virginia home. The incident occurred on July 26, when Mia was shot and her 27-year-old son, Elijah, was arrested. Bieniemy left the Chiefs immediately to support his family, but returned to camp last week ahead of a preseason game against the Rams.

He emphasized Mia's resilient recovery, describing her as "a soldier" and "a saint." Bieniemy had been closely following Chiefs practices from Missouri Western State University and even called General Manager Brett Veach to remind Coach Andy Reid to address a minor coaching issue. Despite his busy schedule, Bieniemy jokingly remarked that Mia had given him the green light to return to the team, explaining, "I know I was driving her and a bunch of my family members crazy in the house."
