Babu Owino, Orengo storm DCI to present Oliver Jaoko, demand arrest of Homa Bay violence organisers

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Siaya Governor James Orengo arrived at the DCI headquarters on August 18, 2026, to present Oliver Jaoko as a person of interest in connection with violence that occurred in Homa Bay on August 16, 2026. Owino accused the police of pursuing those who were attacked while leaving the real perpetrators free and called on them to arrest Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Town MP Peter Kaluma for allegedly sponsoring goons to attack members of Team Linda Mwananchi.

The Siaya governor also challenged the Inspector General of Police to explain the decision to arrest those who were attacked instead of the attackers. Jaoko, who identified himself as Olivetti, was presented at Muthaiga Police Station, but the allegations against Wanga and Kaluma have not been independently verified. The demands came after violent scenes in Homa Bay, where the Linda Mwananchi team faced roadblocks and attacks along its route.

The movement accused security agencies of failing to protect its leaders and supporters, claiming that police officers were involved in the attacks and armed individuals were positioned along the convoy's route.
