Alabama high school football Week 0 schedule for AHSAA, AISA teams

The 2026 AHSAA football season is set to commence on Thursday, Aug. 20, as teams from across the Tuscaloosa area take to the field for Week 0. This marks the beginning of their journey towards the December state championships. The regular season will culminate in the first round of the AHSAA playoffs on Nov. 6, with four rounds determining the final playoffs participants.

The AISA football season kicks off on Friday, Aug. 21, with playoffs beginning Nov. 6 and the state championships on Nov. 19. Here is the Week 0 schedule for Tuscaloosa-area football teams, with most games scheduled to start at 7 p.m. CT.

Northridge will face American Christian on Thursday, Aug. 20, while Choctaw County takes on Sumter Central on Friday, Aug. 21. Pickens County will host Aliceville, and Hale County will play against Berry. Bibb County will take on Trinity Center, Point will meet Central, Fayette County will play against Gordo, Hillcrest will face Tuscaloosa County, R.C. Hatch will host Holt, and Waterloo will take on Holy Spirit.

University Charter will play host to Hubbertville, Lamar County will contest against South Lamar, Excel will square off against Linden, Winfield will take on Northside, Paul W. Bryant will battle Albertville, Vina will face Pickens Academy, Marion County will take on Sipsey Valley, and Sulligent will host Tuscaloosa Academy.
