Abu Dhabi launches Healthy Horizons to support preventive care for Emirati senior citizens

Abu Dhabi has introduced Healthy Horizons, a preventive healthcare initiative aimed at promoting healthy ageing among Emirati senior citizens. The program, a collaboration between PureHealth, the Family Development Foundation, Emirates Foundation, Active Abu Dhabi, and various healthcare entities, emphasizes early detection of health risks and timely medical support.

Senior citizens will gain access to free preventive health screenings, specialist-led workshops, guided physical activities, and guidance on accessing PureHealth's clinical network for follow-up care. The initiative also encourages the use of Pura, PureHealth's AI-powered health application, to facilitate digital engagement with healthcare services.

Fatima Aziz Al Marzouqi, a representative from Barakat Al Dar, highlighted the program's role in enhancing the physical and mental wellbeing of seniors while improving their healthcare access. Leya Al Damani, PureHealth's Chief Sustainability Officer, stressed the importance of preventive care in maintaining senior citizens' health and independence.

Volunteer support from PureHeroes has already contributed over 270 service hours, and the program plans to expand to additional communities, increasing screening coverage and digital follow-up. Healthy Horizons aligns with Abu Dhabi's National Policy for Senior Citizens and the Barakatna initiative, aiming to improve the overall quality of life for older adults.
