30 people injured in massive fuel depot fire in Iraq

Early Tuesday morning, a devastating fire erupted at a fuel depot and bitumen factory in Sulaimaniyah province, Iraq, resulting in at least 30 people suffering burns. Civil defense teams worked tirelessly for nearly four and a quarter hours before managing to extinguish the blaze. The fire began after midnight and ignited powerful explosions as it consumed a vast array of flammable substances, including petrol, diesel, and bitumen tanks.

The initial report indicated around 20 injuries, but this number rose to nearly 30 as more details emerged. Most of those injured were employees directly connected to the site. While many received immediate treatment at the scene, others with severe burns were transported to hospitals. Presently, all victims, except one, have been discharged after receiving medical attention. An Iranian worker remained hospitalized due to the gravity of his injuries.

The blaze produced an incredibly intense light that illuminated the night sky for kilometers around Sulaimaniyah and could be spotted as far away as 60 kilometers. Local health officials reported the injuries and coordinated rescue efforts, while media outlets relayed the harrowing details to the public.
