2027 budget to focus on economic resilience, people’s wellbeing

In a commitment to economic resilience and people's wellbeing, Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan announced that Budget 2027 will prioritise raising incomes, expanding quality job opportunities, and addressing cost-of-living challenges through sustainable methods. Recognising global economic uncertainties and the public's growing expectations, the government remains dedicated to strengthening the nation's competitiveness by fostering high-quality investments, increasing productivity, and advancing strategic sectors like semiconductors, energy transition, digital economy, artificial intelligence, and Islamic finance.

The budget will also empower micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises and startups by improving access to financing, digitalisation, innovation, and market expansion, positioning Malaysia as "Made by Malaysia."

The government is committed to enhancing service delivery in line with the 13th Malaysia Plan, which includes strengthening education, improving healthcare quality, and driving human capital development to lay the foundation for inclusive economic growth. Collaborating with NGOs, civil society organisations, and strategic partners, the government aims to deliver aid and social interventions more comprehensively, especially to vulnerable groups.

This cooperation is crucial in strengthening the social protection network, ensuring no group is left behind in the nation's development.

Elevating incomes, creating quality jobs, and tackling cost-of-living issues remain the main objectives of Budget 2027, which seeks to share the benefits of economic growth more inclusively among all segments of society. To enhance governance, the government is focused on improving regulations, facilitating investments, digitising service delivery, and reducing bureaucratic red tape to further boost the nation's competitiveness.

Dubbed "Malaysia Madani: Reaching for the Skies, Rooted in the Earth (Menggapai di Langit, Mengakar di Bumi)," Budget 2027 is set to be presented in Parliament on October 9.
