Xiaomi Confirms Global Launch Date for Redmi Note 17 Series

Xiaomi is set to unveil the Redmi Note 17 series globally on August 18, introducing a new flagship model known as the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. This marks the first time Xiaomi has used the Pro Max designation within the Redmi Note range. The standout feature of the Pro Max is its colossal 10,000mAh battery, powered by cutting-edge silicon-carbon technology that enables a significant increase in battery capacity within a compact space.

The Pro Max will be positioned above the existing Redmi Note 17 and Note 17 Pro models, providing users with an enhanced experience. A pre-launch appearance of the Pro Max model was detected on Geekbench, indicating its impending availability. The device, identified as model number 2609FRA74G, is driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset, featuring four performance cores clocked at up to 2.61GHz and four efficiency cores operating at up to 2.02GHz.

The phone is equipped with 8GB of RAM and operates on Android 16, attaining impressive single-core and multi-core scores in Geekbench's benchmark tests.

The Redmi Note 17 series already includes models launched in China. The Redmi Note 17, featuring a 7-inch OLED display, Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, 8,000mAh battery, 45W wired charging, a 50MP main camera, and IP65 protection against dust and water, made its debut in China. The Redmi Note 17 Pro, with a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, a larger 9,000mAh battery, a 50MP main camera with a 2MP depth sensor, and an IP69K rating for enhanced durability, represents the next step up in the series.

Specifications for the Malaysian versions of the Redmi Note 17 series are yet to be finalized, as the Malaysian launch will be the first official appearance of the Pro Max model in China. Xiaomi is anticipated to disclose the full range of specifications, including camera setups, RAM and storage options, charging speeds, and pricing, during the launch event on August 18.
