World Vision Ghana has equipped 24 out-of-school youth from the Kwahu Afram Plains North and South districts with apprenticeship training. The two-year program, part of the LEARN Integrated Programme Framework, aimed to curb youth unemployment and foster self-reliance as per World Vision’s strategic direction, Ignite for HOPE for Every Child (FY26–30).
A total of 38 adolescent youths, with 22 females and 16 males, as well as 4 females in FY25, enrolled in trades such as sewing, hairdressing, masonry, carpentry, baking, welding, tiling, and auto/motor mechanics. The graduation ceremony at Donkorkrom brought together community leaders, World Vision Ghana officials, and beneficiaries to celebrate the occasion.
Queen Mother of Atakora in Donkorkrom, Nana Ama Serwaa, inspired the graduates to utilize their skills for a better future and praised World Vision Ghana for its ongoing support in an economically challenged region. Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude to World Vision Ghana and pledged to leverage their training to improve their livelihoods.
Felix Apeti, Fanteakwa Cluster Manager of World Vision Ghana, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to reducing youth unemployment through targeted skills development and empowerment. He stated that the graduates received not just two years of practical training but also essential machines and start-up toolkits to launch their own businesses.
Apeti urged the graduates to remain disciplined, honest, and devoted to their craft, emphasizing that integrity, hard work, and spiritual growth are vital for long-term success, confident that the beneficiaries would become community role models and create opportunities for others.
