Where Penn State’s Rocco Becht ranks among Big Ten quarterbacks

Rocco Becht, a transfer from Iowa State, became Penn State's quarterback this offseason, potentially being one of the biggest roster moves made by the Nittany Lions. Despite the presence of more talented players at the position, Becht brings extensive experience in head coach Matt Campbell's offense and overall football knowledge. Becht had a successful stint with the Cyclones but will face a new challenge in the Big Ten, a conference known for producing top-tier quarterbacks and numerous NFL draft prospects.

Paul Myerberg of USA Today ranked the quarter-backs in the Big Ten for the 2026 season, placing Becht at No. 7. While some might argue that he could be ranked higher than a couple of players on this list, such as USC quarterback Jayden Maiava and Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover, there is a notable point in his favor. Becht currently sits one spot above Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood, who is considered one of the most talented players in the sport.

It is still surprising that the Nittany Lions' signal-caller is ranked above the former No. 1 prospect in the nation, but it is an exciting prospect for the upcoming Penn State season, which kicks off in about three weeks.
