Arsenal's budding female football stars are set to face off against Europe's top academy sides in Shanghai next week. The Under-17 women's team will participate in the inaugural women's edition of the Shanghai Future Star Cup, which runs from August 16 to 22. This competition provides the young players with a valuable opportunity to showcase their skills against elite opposition before the upcoming domestic season, following the club's successful involvement in the men's event earlier this month.
The tournament, held at the Yuanshen Sports Center and the Jiushi Kangqiao Sports Base, features six invited European academies, including Arsenal, alongside Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Sociedad, and Paris FC. China Under-17 completes the field.
Arsenal's recent success in the men's Shanghai Future Star Cup, where the Under-17 boys reached the final only to be declared joint champions with China after the showpiece was canceled due to Typhoon Dolphin, has set the stage for the women's team to make their mark in Shanghai.
