Wandayi accuses ‘outsiders’ for undermining nuclear power project

Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has accused outsiders of funding protests against the proposed nuclear power plant in Siaya county. According to Wandayi, these individuals from outside the region have been inciting locals to reject the establishment of the £500 billion nuclear plant in the Lenya area of Bondo subcounty. Recognizing the significance of the project, Wandayi urged residents of Siaya County to support the £500 billion energy initiative that will produce power and boost infrastructure development throughout the region.

In Bondo, the energy CS called on the people of Siaya to rally behind the mega project, thanking those from the political class who have supported it. Conversely, Wandayi criticized residents who had changed their stance against the energy project after initially backing it. The energy CS expressed gratitude to President William Ruto's administration for allocating over Ksh 2 billion for electricity connectivity in the region during the current fiscal year.
