Veteran actress spills secrets to almost 60 years of marriage

Veteran actress Kang Boo-ja revealed intimate details about her 59-year marriage and offered advice on long-lasting relationships during an appearance on MBN’s “Kim Joo-ha’s Day & Night.” The episode attracted a record-breaking 2.0 percent national viewership, according to Nielsen Korea. Kang reflected on her lengthy theatrical career, specifically her play “Mom’s House: Two Nights and Three Days,” which has been in production for 17 years.

She fondly remembered her late mother, describing her as warmhearted and generous, and expressed her deep longing for her mother. However, she admitted that her mother’s inability to comfortably watch dramas featuring her daughter was heartbreaking. Kang recounted how her mother would get nervous and walk around whenever she appeared on screen, only listening to the sound due to her intense anxiety.

Both Kang and her mother found the experience embarrassing, with Kang noting that she mostly played elderly characters and struggled to show her mother what her appearance would look like in old-age makeup.
