US pressure ramps up as Kushner, Mladenov to meet with Netanyahu to advance Trump's Gaza plan

In a move aimed at advancing US President Donald Trump's 20-point plan for Gaza, Jared Kushner, Nikolay Mladenov, and Tony Blair are set to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior officials on Monday. The meeting in Jerusalem will focus on accelerating the implementation of the plan, which includes disarming Hamas and the creation of a demilitarized Gaza.

Ahead of the meeting, the three individuals had discussions with Egyptian officials and other mediators in El Alamein, Egypt. They also reviewed plans with the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza. The talks are expected to focus on ways to expedite the implementation of Trump's 20-point plan, with both the United States and Israel agreeing on the ultimate goal of a demilitarized Hamas in Gaza.

The plan aims to ensure the end of Hamas's governing authority in the Gaza Strip, allowing for the reconstruction of the region. Additionally, the steps are intended to preserve the ceasefire, begin transferring governing authority to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, and ensure Hamas has no role in managing the future of Gaza. The process also includes the comprehensive disarmament of Hamas, the decommissioning of its military infrastructure, and the deployment of an International Stabilization Force.

The Board of Peace is also seeking to speed up the entry of humanitarian aid and the reconstruction process in Gaza, ensuring that aid is not stolen or diverted under threat. From their perspective, there is no longer any room for ambiguity regarding Hamas's role. Hamas must relinquish governing authority, all weapons, and military infrastructure. Gaza can never again serve as a source of terrorism against Israel, according to the official.
