Only five commodity vessels passed through the strait on Saturday, compared to 31 the previous weekend, while none were registered for Sunday. Meanwhile, oil prices steadied as fighting erupted in Lebanon and the prospect of a US-Iran deal was undermined by the attacks.

Brent crude remained near $89 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate hovered around $83 per barrel. Lebanon witnessed its deadliest day of recent fighting, with Israel striking Iranian-backed Hezbollah. Iran rejected President Donald Trump's proposal to declare the Strait of Hormuz a US territory, insisting it would remain under Iranian control.

The 60-day negotiating period between Iran and the US is set to expire on Monday without any direct talks taking place.
