Ujjain's Nagchandreshwar Temple Opens For 24 Hours On The Occasion Of Nag Panchami; Thousands Gather For Darshan | VIDEO

The doors of the Nagchandreshwar Temple, situated atop the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, were opened for 24 hours on Monday to mark Nag Panchami. The annual event, which occurs only once a year, saw a massive turnout of devotees eager to seek the blessings of Lord Nagchandreshwar. As Nag Panchami fell on a Monday during the holy month of Sawan, thousands of people gathered near the temple, eager to participate in the festivities.

Ujjain's Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma reported that approximately 40,000 devotees were already queuing for darshan when the temple doors opened at 2:30 am. The event was further enhanced by a special Bhasma Aarti at 3 am and a grand Panchamrit Abhishek to adorn Lord Mahakal. The temple's administration was closely monitoring the situation, ensuring security and smooth arrangements for the massive influx of devotees.

Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya visited the temple, expressing satisfaction with the crowd control measures and assuring that all devotees would get the opportunity to offer their prayers. He also prayed for the development of Madhya Pradesh and the country. The temple is expected to continue receiving devotees well into the day, with a third city procession of Lord Mahakaleshwar scheduled for 4 pm, drawing around 4 to 4.5 lakh people.

Ujjain's security arrangements included 2,400 police personnel, 200 CCTV cameras, and three drones to monitor the crowd. The temple's administration had also opened parking facilities at Karkraj and guided devotees through an Interpretation Centre and other designated areas. Notable figures like Indian cricketer Umesh Yadav also participated in the celebrations, emphasizing the significance of the day for devotees like himself.
