The pact was signed on August 7, during a time of heightened violence in the region due to the US-Iran conflict, which has seen attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels. The agreement aims to enhance collective deterrence against aggression and improve defense cooperation among the three countries, though it does not specify any particular military commitments.
