Transfer: Arsenal star set to leave Mikel Arteta’s squad after Community Shield disappointment

Arsenal's promising young talent, Ethan Nwaneri, is reportedly eager to depart the club before the conclusion of the summer transfer window, following his omission from the Community Shield encounter against Manchester City. According to Metro, the 19-year-old has been linked with a potential move away from Arsenal this summer, despite having spent the latter half of the previous season on loan at Marseille.

Despite a relatively disappointing 2025-26 campaign, Nwaneri remains one of the most promising talents in Europe, having made history as the youngest player to appear in the Premier League during his 2022 debut. He went on to become a regular in Mikel Arteta's starting lineup during the 2024-25 season, making 37 appearances and earning a nomination for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

However, expectations for his continued impact were dashed last season, with Nwaneri only playing six league matches before a loan spell to Marseille, where he made just nine appearances. Arteta initially believed that the loan would benefit Nwaneri, stating that he "returned looking like a different man." However, Arsenal management now acknowledges that the experience was not ideal, and they must consider the medium and long-term implications before making a final decision on Nwaneri's future.
