During a match in Brasília, São José defender Tiago Pedra made a powerful clearance that struck a photographer directly in the face. The young woman, standing near the edge of the playing area, immediately collapsed after the ball hit her. Medical personnel rushed to her aid, attending to her on the ground as players and others nearby reacted to the sudden incident.
The incident occurred as Pedra attempted to clear the ball from danger during the game. Despite the force of the powerful kick, it was not a deliberate attack on the photographer, who was positioned close to the field and unable to avoid the ball's trajectory. The frightening scene briefly drew attention away from the ongoing match, but the footage is expected to capture significant attention due to the intense impact and the photographer's immediate collapse.
This incident underscores the risks faced by photographers who work in close proximity to the action during football matches, often having to react swiftly to powerful shots and clearances.
