Supreme Court Allows Public Suggestions For SIT Probe Into Alleged Ram Mandir Donation Theft

The Supreme Court permitted petitioners and other well-meaning individuals to submit recommendations to the Solicitor General's office regarding matters that should be investigated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) examining allegations of theft of donations to the Ram Mandir trust in Ayodhya. A panel consisting of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana stated that suggestions could be made on aspects that may need thorough examination by the SIT established by the Uttar Pradesh Police.

This decision allows those with pertinent information to raise issues they believe deserve closer inspection, while the investigation remains under the SIT's purview, according to Live Law. The Solicitor General's office is tasked with forwarding the recommendations to the SIT, and the court is optimistic that they will be reviewed impartially.

The court also instructed the SIT to submit a status report for its review, which will be initially assessed by the court.
