Small Arms Commission intercepts 50,000 AA cartridges in Upper West

The National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons (NACSA) in Ghana has confiscated a significant quantity of ammunition in the Upper West Region as part of its campaign against illegal arms trade. NACSA's Executive Secretary, Dr Adam Bonaa, announced that 50,000 rounds of AA cartridges were seized from individuals allegedly involved in illicit activities.

These persons have been arrested and are facing legal consequences. The announcement came during a training program for National Focal Points on the exemption procedure under the ECOWAS Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons. The training involved representatives from various security agencies and aimed to enhance their understanding of ECOWAS procedures for weapons movement and transfer.

Dr Bonaa urged citizens to report any suspicious activities involving weapons or ammunition to NACSA or relevant security bodies, promising that such information would be treated seriously. He also hinted at possible rewards for those providing information leading to the detection and seizure of illegal weapons.
