Shahapur Delegation Raises Waqf-Related Concerns Before Maharashtra Waqf Board Chairman Sameer Qazi In Mumbai

A delegation from Shahapur met Maharashtra State Waqf Board Chairman and Minister of State-rank office-bearer Sameer Qazi in Mumbai to discuss several issues related to protecting Waqf properties, the registration process, and alleged encroachments on Waqf land. The delegation submitted a memorandum highlighting key concerns about Waqf management and administration across the state.

One of the primary demands was the strengthening of district-level facilitation centres and the implementation of online services to simplify procedures and make them more accessible to citizens at the district level. The delegation also called for a comprehensive investigation into alleged encroachments on Waqf properties, prompting immediate legal action against those found guilty.

They sought a review of unauthorised tenancy entries and disputed rights recorded in revenue documents, emphasizing the need for thorough examination of land records to identify irregularities and protect Waqf properties from unlawful claims. The delegation demanded a stronger online application and tracking system for applicants to monitor the status of their submissions without repeated visits to government offices.

They also demanded a review of procedural irregularities and alleged malpractice in Waqf-related matters. Speaking after the meeting, Advocate Abubakar Shaikh highlighted the importance of preserving Waqf assets and ensuring transparent management, urging citizens not to be forced to make unnecessary trips to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for registration-related procedures.
