Security agencies must act against provocative religious remarks – Enenche

Senior Pastor Paul Enenche has criticized Nigerian security agencies for not taking action against Sheikh Muhammad Jingir's provocative religious remarks. Enenche, speaking during a sermon, emphasized that security forces must act against statements that can provoke religious tension and violence. He strongly defended Christianity, asserting that it is not secondary and that Christians are a significant part of Nigeria's population.

Enenche questioned why the state security apparatus allowed individuals to make reckless statements without facing consequences, which he believed could threaten national peace. He urged authorities to investigate such statements to determine if they incited violence, rather than permitting the speakers to continue publicly. Enenche warned against taking the Christian community for granted, stressing that Christians have remained calm despite provocative statements.

He further rejected suggestions of Christian inferiority in Nigeria, highlighting the large number of Christians across the country. These remarks come in response to Jingir's advocacy for a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket, which triggered reactions from various quarters, including political figures and journalists.
