Pol-sec rubbishes Sangeet’s claim that Anwar ’empowered’ Umno

Federal Territories PKR chief Azman Abidin dismissed a claim made by Kuala Lumpur DAP leader Sangeet Kaur Deo that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had empowered Umno while dividing Pakatan Harapan (PH). Azman stated that Anwar's role as prime minister does not involve empowering any specific party but rather managing the multi-party administration responsibly.

He emphasized that working with Umno does not imply strengthening Umno's position at the expense of DAP. Azman suggested that perception may differ among parties over the relationship between the prime minister and Umno, attributing any concerns to political perception rather than reality. Yesterday, Sangeet Kaur Deo called for DAP to maintain its position within the unity government but reassess ties with Anwar, alleging that Anwar had divided PH and empowered Umno while allowing Umno to openly criticize DAP.

Azman defended the prime minister's management, stating that disagreements among government parties are common and should be handled through negotiations or Cabinet discussions, warning against allowing disputes to undermine the government's stability.
