PM Shehbaz Orders Private Sector to Run Islamabad Technology Park

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the private sector to operate the Islamabad Technology Park, while emphasizing the urgent need to expedite its construction. These directives were shared during a review meeting on reforms at the National Information Technology Board (NITB) and the park's progress. The Prime Minister expressed frustration over the delays in the park's completion, directing authorities to ensure its early opening.

He also instructed the NITB to concentrate on providing straightforward, effective, and modern digital services to citizens, while calling for further enhancements to government digital platforms. The Prime Minister highlighted the transition of federal ministries to e-office as a significant digital governance reform, directing its expansion to subordinate departments and state-owned enterprises.

NITB has already completed its rightsizing process, and appointments to key positions are being made through a transparent process. All federal ministries have moved to e-office, with ongoing efforts to expand this system across other government entities. The Prime Minister also directed the early digitization of records regarding government properties and called for faster digitalization of government institutions.
