PDP chief Mehbooba says she is ‘dimagi Naxal’; NC blames her for Article 370 abrogation

Srinagar witnessed a heated exchange between the PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and the NC party following her X post where she labeled herself a "dimagi Naxal" and supported the special status of Jammu & Kashmir under Article 370. The NC party blamed the PDP-BJP coalition government for the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019.

According to Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, the "dimagi Naxal" term in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech was not meant to refer to opposition members, but rather to those who support Maoists, reject the Indian Constitution, or stand with separatists to push for the division of the Northeast region from India. The NC spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar stated that Article 370 remains part of the Constitution and his party would continue advocating for its restoration.

However, he criticized the PDP for mixing Article 370 with the "dimagi Naxal" label, claiming it was a disservice to the Constitution. NC legislator Tanvir Sadiq further accused the PDP of being responsible for the abrogation of Article 370, attributing it to the alliance between the PDP and BJP in 2015 that led to the events of August 5, 2019.
