Osun election: ‘I will not reach out to APC’s Oyebamiji’ – Gov Adeleke gives reasons

In the aftermath of Osun State's recent gubernatorial elections, Ademola Adeleke, the victorious incumbent, has expressed his preference for his rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to be the one to extend a congratulatory call. Upon learning of his victory from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Adeleke made these assertions during an interview on Channels Television's Sunday Politics.

He firmly stated that it was Oyebamiji's role to initiate contact if he desired a civil interaction, highlighting that he had been declared the winner of the election.

Despite his stance that Oyebamiji should make the first move, Adeleke extended an olive branch to his opponent, suggesting collaboration and sharing of ideas for the betterment of the state. He invited Oyebamiji to join him on national television to discuss potential initiatives and mutual benefits. "If you have any ideas, please share them and I will consider them.

If the idea is beneficial, I will be eager to implement it; the priority is Osun State," Adeleke emphasized, underscoring his commitment to the state's progress.

Furthermore, Adeleke addressed the political tensions that had marked the campaign period, vowing to mend these divisions. He announced his intention to form a reconciliation committee, composed of himself and his political opponents, as well as other stakeholders. The primary goal of this committee would be to unite the people of Osun and facilitate collaborative efforts towards the state's development.

"I will set up a reconciliation committee aimed at uniting the people of Osun. I will extend invitations to our opponents; if you have any suggestions, please present them so that we can collaborate and enhance Osun’s greatness," Adeleke declared, signaling his dedication to fostering unity and progress in the state.
