SAHIWAL: A district council employee named Fida Hussain was reportedly kidnapped and tortured by a landlord and his four accomplices during a stray dog culling operation in Chak 72/4-R on Saturday. According to police, council worker Fida had already eliminated two stray dogs in the village when Shamoon Jatoi, Abid Ali Bhatti, Bilal Baloch, Majid, and two unidentified armed men confronted him.
The landlord and his associates objected to the dog culling, claiming it was an act of cruelty and against animal rights. After an intense argument with Fida, they allegedly kidnapped him, locked him in a room at their outhouse, subjected him to torture, and stole his mobile phone. Locals who witnessed the incident informed the police via the 15 emergency helpline.
A police team responded to the call, rescued Fida from the outhouse, and arrested three of the suspects, while the remaining two escaped. Fateh Sher police registered a case under various penal code sections based on Fida's complaint by district council Enforcement Inspector Muhammad Ziarat.
