Nigerian traders seek China’s support for cataract outreach, AI training

The Made in China Goods Traders Association of Nigeria has requested support from China's Consulate General in Lagos for several initiatives. These include cataract treatment for less privileged residents in Lagos, artificial intelligence training, scholarships, and participation in major trade exhibitions in China. The association's National President, Oluwole Adigun, wrote a letter to the Chinese Consul-General, Mrs. Yan Yuqing, on August 17.

Adigun expressed gratitude for the Bamboo and Rattan Seminar organized by Chinese authorities, which he believes will contribute to stronger Nigeria-China relations. The association seeks to facilitate its members' participation in the China Import and Export Fair (October 15 to November 4, 2026) and the China International Import Expo (November 5 to 10, 2026).

This involvement would offer members new business contacts, markets, and investment opportunities. Adigun also appealed for undergraduate and master's degree scholarships, as well as for qualified association members to be considered for China's plan to train 5,000 Nigerians in AI and other emerging technologies.
